Late 2017, we had the idea of re-introducing the old "Heidelberger Tiegel", which had become an hallway exhibition piece, to the modern age by printing a Christmas card. That idea of producing handcrafted, modern products with a historic printing press and timeless techniques excites us ever since. And where there is excitement, there must be a purpose to follow.
Within our daily framework of digital pre-press, we were eager to rethink processes that connect us with both our industrial and yet cultural heritage which can be used productively. This gave us the opportunity to learn skills from professions that are threatened with extinction. We were lucky to find maybe one of the last printing masters who now teaches us the very old printing techniques. There's something to learn every day.
